review 1: Wow. People on Goodreads really didn't like this book. It was dark and disturbing and a perfect illustration of Hobbes' notion that life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short. So if you don't want to see an eloquently portrayed picture of that, don't read this book. Do read this book if you want to read a slice of the English underbelly from the 70s in the form of one awful, but somehow captivating gutter snipe and her power over the people around her.
review 2: I really expected more from this book. The blurb really gripped me and i thought it was going to be really intriguing and different, but in the end, there was no real plot; it ended really abruptly; and it didn't live up to my expectations. The ending with the 3 girls really made me feel uncomfort
... moreable, i wanted to stop reading because it felt wrong. I've never felt this way about a book before, i really don't recommend reading it because it'll just be a waste of your time. less

surprise ending pretty well comes out of nowhere; enjoyable but vapid.

Readable but contrived, especially the ending.
