review 1: May contain spoilers ***DNF at 17% is it just me or was this book all over the place? I was so lost and everything happened sooooooooooo fast! Like Sonic the Hedgehog FAST! Do I need to continue and read more to get to the good part? Because I can't find a reason why others were able to get past the first 2 chapters. I unno how to explain how I felt reading the first chapter cuz next thing you know the werewolf is in love with the vampire and is willing to risk his life for him, and the vampire was like ~ i kidnapped you to have sex with me to stop my mom to control me to help her rule the world ~ dafuk? yea this was like within the first two chapters. I get the whole Mate and Mine kinda deAl, cuz im a big fan of that dont get me wrong, but how this was written made th... moreis feeling sooooooo outa place!?? Did not feel any connection with the characters AT ALL! This is the shortest read for me at a DNF status. It threw me off so bad, and I've read some Amber Kell books before too and this just proves I'm still not a fan :( what i do like about the author is that she has some interesting plot ideas and characters, but her writing and story telling doesn't agree with me. So just 1 star. If anyone reads this and disagrees and lets me know it does get better later on, let me know and I'll try to read it again and re-rate at a second attempt because I really did want to like this!. For now my opinion sticks to this review.
review 2: Any story with the fate of the world threatened by dark and evil forces, a motley crew of mixed paranormal species pitted against them, and a newly mated interspecies couple learning how to work together has my attention. ‘Diomedes’ is a wild ride of an adventure in a world filled with demons, vampires, werewolves, and any genetic mixture between them that you can think of. Not to forget tiny little demons who act more like pets than like members of the underworld.Diomedes, who likes to be called Dio, is a man torn between two worlds. His mother is a demon, rising in the hierarchy of Hell and about to take over the world. His father is a vampire of some power, not that Dio is close to him either. Neither of Dio’s parents has ever put their son first, or even second, so he needs to look for different allies if he wants to save the human realm from being run over by the minions of Hell. That is how his relationship with local alpha werewolf Varick starts, only to quickly evolve into so much more.Varik may have been kidnapped by one of Dio’s well-meaning house demons, and should be furious, but he quickly discovers that Dio is not just the prettiest man he has ever met, but that he is Varik’s mate as well. Fiercely loyal and determined to protect what is his, Varik sets out to work with Dio on defeating his evil demon mother and keep his equally ill-intentioned vampire father at bay. Varik is in for a few surprises regarding the powers of his somewhat weak looking mate, but he takes it all in stride. If you like a lot of adventure with your romance if you enjoy stories about a mix of paranormal and supernatural species fighting for dominance, and if you’re looking for an entertaining, sometimes humorous read with some spicy bedroom scenes thrown in for good measure, then you will probably like this novella. less
