review 1: I read this and #4 (in volume 2), and my review is pretty much the same for both. I enjoyed both stories - the premise and the characters. However, inconsistencies throughout both stories made it very hard to stay 'in' the story. They love each other, they like each other; they're happy, then they're arguing; they're confident, they're insecure. Plus, in one of the very first sex scenes one character reaches orgasm, but the other doesn't, but it's written as if they both had, but it's more like the author simply forgot to add in the second's, as it wasn't even implied.
review 2: Well, that ended rather abruptly. I wanted to know a few things:1. What name did Farren give his snake guardian? He kept mentioning that he needed to name her, but...? (And if he kn
... moreew it was a she, why did he keep referring to her as a he in one chapter, only to revert back to she?)2. Why didn't we get a claiming scene? Farren mentioned that Djinn claimed their mates by branding/marking them with fire during sex. We never got to see that. That annoyed me a bit as the ending felt more HFN than HEA to me. I think adding that in a short epilogue would have been best.3. Does Farren have to worry about the Counsel, you know, being Djinn and all?4. What ever happened with him being the ruler of the Djinn and the leader and The One to unite Fire Mages and Djinn and all that? It just sort of fizzled. Lots of things left hanging. The rest wasn't too bad. The writing, tone and all that were on par with the rest of the series. less
