review 1: I liked the beginning of this story but that's about it. There is just too much corniness in this book for my liking. I understand that Thomas is enamored with his mate but there is only so much beautiful mate, beautiful magician that I can take. The story had promise, I loved Jaynell (Jay) being stronger and more knowledgeable than the rest of his classmates but being slightly oblivious. The initial reason for his father's dead was pretty good too and I would have liked a more in depth look into that. The gnomes were awesome and the fact that Jay spoke their language fluently. In the end my biggest pet peeve in a book is being told everything rather than shown it. I understand that it is something that is difficult to do but it still irks me. With that out of the way my th... moreanks to all authors for providing me with the occasional escape from reality.
review 2: If you love Amber Kell, you will really like this offering. I liked her Moon Pack series, but this is much better. It is written in her normal, quick style - a lot happening, funny quotes from characters and the famous "your mine!" quote. A lot of her stories, have very familiar themes running through them - man meets his mate, their is no discussion it happens!, but that is why I like her books, I know what I am getting every time, she doesn't try to be so be something she's not. The book spec covers the book well, so I won't repeat. I don't find these books over graphic, but if you want a sweet, wholesome m/m books, these may not be to your taste, so be warned. Off to get the next book in this series now. Recommended. less
