review 1: This book is best read, in order, as part of a series. It would not stand too well on its own.I had trouble seeing the characters as real. Eaton, especially, seemed to have too many contradictions in his nature-innocent at times and very smart at others. I had trouble believing that he couldn't sense his bond with Marty until Marty mentions it.The story is fast paced-a little too much for me. I liked the bond that was between the friends. I liked the realistic way sex was handled. I also liked that Eaton marked his mate in a way that was more fitting to an eagle shifter than the typical biting would be.It has a HEA solely because Eaton and Marty are mates. There's not the I love yous that are usually in a HEA. We are not given a glimpse of the future and how they fare toge... morether as mates. Eaton's discord with the hawks is not solved.
review 2: Ms. Kell's Banded Brothers series is full of romance, bonding, escapades, and a bit of sex to top it off.She tells the journey story of how two people (okay shifters) who are mates move from acquaintance to accepted mate, to bonded mate. The characters are full bodied with flaws and dreams and ambitions aside from the need to mate. The mating bond happens, it isn't forced into the story for the sake of adding a sex scene. It happens when it happens and bonds the two together, leaving the reader satisfied for the couple. less

Marty and Eaton. Hmmm...I liked them, but Eaton was a bit naive for me.
