review 1: I just did not enjoy this book. I felt unsatisfied and a little annoyed once I finished. That being said: The prose is beautiful. Gray does a wonderful job capturing grief, mental decay, and the lovely minutia of a life two people share. But sometimes, like is the case in this book, lovely writing feels like an excuse to ignore developing a plot. I'm over mysteries with no resolution. This was too much of a literary trip for me. Maybe as a short story, I would have enjoyed it more. But I don't feel like the interesting moments and wacky characters were enough to sustain this novel (even as a quick read).
review 2: Weird. Just weird. I've never heard of this author before but I liked the cover design so I picked it up. The author has an unconventional style of w
... moreriting which I found interesting and engaging. There are themes of grief, mental illness, and mind games. I gave it 4 stars because there was no closure. You were left with a sense of what the hell did I just read. All you have is speculation. But I guess there's never really any closure when death and those left to deal with the grief are involved. less
