review 1: Since this story is all about Tarver and a discovery he made before These Broken Stars, I didn't feel like it really connected to book two much. It was fun to follow his adventure and be reminded of how cute him and Lilac are though and we find out a bit more about the tech involved with the Icarus. It's much shorter than you think though since there are sections of book one and two at the end, so the novella is only about half the length.
review 2: I finished reading These Broken Stars earlier this month, so you can imagine how excited I was to find this short story for FREE on my Nook!!! :) I really enjoyed learning about Tarver's experience on Patron that led to his promotion in the military. Of course, the authors had to include the first three chapters of ... morethe second book in the trilogy, which has not yet been released, so I'm going CRAZY over here while I try to wait patiently until I can get my hands on This Shattered World. I would highly recommend this book to any YA reader who likes sci-fi with lots of action and a dash of romance! :) less
