review 1: Have you ever felt caught between a rock and a hard place when reading--too afraid to keep reading but too caught up in the story not to? I have had a growing sense of foreboding that is increasing with every turn of the page. There seems to be a Romeo&Juliet/Bonnie&Clyde thing going on here and I so dislike "hankie books"--books where I will need a hanky to dry all the tears I am going to shed when things end badly for characters I have grown to love. Reading--such sweet sorrow.Okay. I had to wait several days until I had the courage to keep reading. I had been filled with such dread about what was ahead. Would today's Bonnie and Clyde meet a similar end to yesterday's Bonnie and Clyde? I finally pulled myself together. Now I sit to write and I have mixed feelings... more. First, one thing that held me captive was the author's poetical (didn't know that was really a word until I looked up its definition) writing. Second, the characters just riveted and befriended me. However, this book rode right along the line of what I don't read. I prefer my books clean as in squeaky, squeaky. There was some swearing here though not enough to make me quit reading and some ... well ... steam: some talk about sex, a lot of longing and lust, and some "action " that did not feel explicit to me (therefore I continued reading) but may bother some and would certainly keep me from recommending it or rereading it. Hence three stars--liked but don't recommend. Plus, despite my loving the author's general writing style, I am not sure Whether I will read any other book by her.
review 2: I loved this book to infinity. Amy Harmon has a way of writing that makes me spellbound by her words. How something like math could be put into perspective the way it was done in this book was brilliant. All the revelations and all the equations. I loved every piece of this puzzle. The middle seems to drag out a bit for me, but other than that I really enjoyed! I Will never forget the story of Bonnie and Clyde. less
