review 1: This incredible book is poetry in music form. Mackey and his ragtag group of brothers and his adopted family have had it rough, but have always had each others backs. When Mackey is broken and it starts look like he might not survive, Trav is thrown into their lives to fix it all. Mackey goes through some tough stuff, maybe more than one person should have to endure, but he is strong. Strong enough to be fixed as long as he has the support of his family and Trav. Strong enough to be loved and strong enough to realize that the people who love him can hold him up when he lags. The love between these people is intense and you will not be able to get through this book without a few Kleenex. review 2: 5 Mackey McKay stars! This is my second 5 star read in ... moreas many days and I am thrilled and totally wrecked by this story. I will not spoil this great story with too many details but know that I cried. I cried huge big sobbing tears at several points in the story. This is Mackey Saunders story of how he fell in love at 14 and spent 5 years with the his first true love in a secret relationship. Grant Adams is everything to Mackey including his brother's best friend and bandmate. The Saunders brothers, Kell, Jeff, Mackey are all part of the band and a single mom family. They all have different fathers and they also have a younger brother they care for while their mother works. They way these boys forge not just an amazing band but a true family of their own is just a part of this amazing story. This is a story of true love and how it can wreck you and ruin you and put you back together. How sometimes there are people fortunate enough to find true love twice in a lifetime. If you like epic love stories, rock and roll bands on the verge of being huge stars, great music and characters that grow and love and make changes and survive it all together you will love this story. While I really would like an epilogue to know how things ended up a few years down the road for them, the story was complete enough to give a satisfying end. less
