review 1: This was a nice story and I like the book but it didn't make me go crazy over the characters, yes they were good together, they loved each other and I could feel their affection for each other but through out the read I felt that there was something missing or maybe it was just me. I didn't experience the rush or the overwhelming feeling I usually look for in the books that would surely end up in my favorite shelve.Another thing was that the author's style isn't really just my type of writing. This was the second book I've read from the same author and somehow I liked the other one better. However, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy this one coz I did, only not much.
review 2: Chris and Xander meet on the local basketball court at the age of 14, while Chris is wait
... moreing for his mom to pick up dinner. The strike up a game and when Chris' mom shows up they invite Xander over for dinner, the first decent meal a starving Xander has had in sometime. Xander's mom is a crack head who doesn't feed her son or care that her boyfriends abuse him. Xander and Chris become best friends and eventually so much more. They are forced to hide their love for one another, through high school, college and eventually though out their careers in the NBA. They manage to keep their secret, but at what costs?I loved the premise and story line of this book, but I never quite felt the characters matured. It was like they mentally stayed 15 forever. I also felt at times that I had no idea what the MC's were talking about. Sometimes it was like they started talking in the middle of a thought. This was a touching story, but I just didn't feel the connection between the MC's. This was by no means a horrible book or story, I did love Chris and Xander, I just wish the love they shared for one another would have jumped off the pages more. less
