review 1: The writing and attention to detail in this book is amazing. It's very thoughtfully written and very easy to relate with the characters. I definitely recommend this book. I knocked off a star because it's a little slow at the beginning and I felt the ending was kind of obscure for the huge twist that it took. But wow, great book. I'll be looking into other books by the author the next time I'm in the mood for a thrilling literary ride up and down a twisty roller coaster!
review 2: All around mediocre book. The ending was a bit cliche, and the plot twists were only slightly surprising. While I was interested in the story and wanted to know more about the narrator, the narration and writing style was (purposely) dispassionate to the point where I felt really bore
... mored. The main character didn't want to be involved in what she was doing so much that she kept distracting herself with other topics, which kept us from finding out much. We kept getting hints and then there would be no follow through. I understand that she's traumatized, but she was really flat. There was nothing to her character, and it was mostly just difficult to continue reading. less

Both dark and beautiful. This is labeled a mystery about a young mortician and a murdered girl.

Although I didn't like the sudden ending, the characters and rhe plot made up for it.
