review 1: It really needed another pass through an editor--there were typos, poor grammar, and a verrrryyyyy drawn-out plot (so I skimmed periodically). The survivalist plot point went on too long. I nearly quit reading. The books were told through a diary and I feel like that has to be done very well to be effective. The story idea and the characters were interesting. Overall, I feel like the whole story could have been condensed into one or two books.
review 2: I liked the first two books (Stray and Lab Rat One) even if they are supposed to be aimed at young adults (and I am well beyond that age). The characters are well built, there's quite a bit of action and the story flows pretty nicely. I admit I really had a hard time putting them down, especially the second one.
... more The reason for the 3 stars is due to the last book in the trilogy: Caszandra.I found it pretty boring and kept skipping pages. The story goes on and on without a real plot and then it is over in just one page. I had the impression it was just dragging on and after a certain amounts of pages the author decided it was enough and brought the book to an end in barely few lines. I still would recommend the trilogy to somebody who wants a soft start in reading fantasy/sci-fi books. less
