review 1: This is the second book in the Forensic Instincts series by Andrea Kane. This is the story of Amanda Gleason who has given birth to a son, Justin. Justin is found out to have a Severe Combined Immunnodeficiency and hospitalized. The father Paul Everett has disappeared and is presumed dead. The file on his death has been closed. Amanda's photojournalist friend swears she sees Paul in Washington DC and takes a picture to prove it. Justin is in need of a stem cells for his condition and Paul is the only one who can help save him. Can the FI team find out if he is really dead or just disappeared due to the some slimy people?? The race is on to save Justin's life. I have read all three books in this particular series. This is the weakest in the series and felt the storyline dra... moregged on too long. The first and third book in the FI were great books and had much stronger story lines.
review 2: I received this book as a freebie at a conference, I think, and found it the other day, thought I'd give it a go. I was very pleasantly surprised. It's an excellent crime novel involving a woman who has a desperately ill newborn and is seeking a donor match- when suddenly she hears that the child's dead father has been seen, apparently alive... she enrols the help of Forensic Instincts, a quirky group of crime solvers comprised of an ex navy SEAL, an ex FBI agent, a behaviorist, a techno whizz kid, an intuitive and a dog... I loved the ticking clock scenario, the writing style and the race to the end. I will definitely be buying more of Andrea Kane's books less
