review 1: I learned a lot in this book. I could relate to Helen and her expecting the worst to happen all the time. I loved learning about life in WWII and I had no idea about the U boats off the coast. Wow! Josef's explanation about the difference between Germans and Nazis is like Americans and the KKK. I think far too often all Germans are referred to as Nazi's and that is unfair. The story, intrigue, love and love for community is beautifully written. I hope more of this story is true than not. Thank you for this lovely book! I'd love to see it made into a movie!
