review 1: Gaby is feeling lost. She was born in America, but her mother was an illegal immigrant from Honduras. Gaby now lives with her father who was not part of her life until her mother was deported. Gaby has (unrealistic) dreams that her mom will soon return and all will be well. While volunteering at an animal shelter, she becomes attached to a cat whose owners (like her dad) seem emotionally removed from their pet. Gaby sneaks the cat out of the shelter, but how will she care for it with little money and without her father finding out? Will the cat, and Gaby, find a loving home?
