review 1: I have never had a big thing for cops in romance novels, but I adored reading Mike and Maddie's story. Probably because she was so mouthy and he was always calm in response. He certainly called her out on her bad behavior, but in a way that was effective as opposed to nasty. This book certainly had one of the funnier intros for the characters to one another and made them both seem grouchy and bossy but really left me laughing. Too often romance novels are written with flawed darlings as the lead characters, but Verdenius managed to make the characters inherently flawed and charming in a real way. I also always appreciate Verdenius' approach to the BBW characters she writes and their hangups about their bodies. Not all of them have major body issues, but some do and ... moreshe always manages to craft them differently.
review 2: Reading this kind of story makes me feel so heartwarming. I just love that the fact the imperfect someone will also have his/her perfect love life. The heroine, Maddy is kinda all over the place sometimes with all her sarcasm but somehow I still like her with all her soft heart. And for the hero, Mike the big Neanderthal cop, I love him from the beginning. Nothing is even wrong about him. He is just perfectly perfect.Well, a big 4 stars from me. Recommended :) less
