review 1: This was a really sweet, funny (admittedly quick) read. And it was great to read an Australian author who kept a bit of aussie language and culture in there. It was a nice combo, Alan the sexy, skirt chasing cop and Sophie, the virgin author who writes sexy books. I liked them both a lot. Sophie was relatable. And Alan had a sexy possessive thing going. There was some good chemistry here and the dialogue was actually pretty good. The only thing that bothered me was that Sophie's books, seemed to promise something quite kinky, spanking and so forth. And the actual education of Sophie by Alan was pretty tame. The sex scenes were a little repetitive and almost seemed anaemic in comparison to what was promised! Aside from that, great book. I might pick up another by this author... more soon.
review 2: Seriously fun book. I like that Verdenius uses characters from other stories. Although I like stand alone titles, I am more likely to view a book favorably if I go in with a connection to the characters. Alan has been in several of her previous novels, and his sense of humor and loyalty to his friends made me instantly happy to see him get his own book. I loved the plot twist surrounding Sophie's writing and how that provided fuel for Alan and Sophie's developing romance. My only regret when I see a new Verdenius novel come out is that I know I am going to read it in a day and then have to wait months again for her next book to come out. less
