review 1: So I Married a Demon Slayer by Kathy Love, Angie Fox, and Lexi George is a light paranormal romance anthology. In Love's HOT!, photographer Charlie Bowen has to start somewhere, so he takes a job in the mailroom of HOT! fashion magazine. Charlie hopes to get his photographs in front of the magazine's editor, but instead, he gets involved with beautiful model Ava Wells. But there's more going on at the magazine and with Ava than meets the eye.In Fox's What Slays in Vegas, half-succubus Shiloh is happy enough working in a demon's casino, serving his customers' every desire -- until she meets sexy demon slayer Damien. He's on a mission to kill the demon, and Shiloh agrees to help him -- after they wake up married with no memory of how it happened in true Vegas fashion. And fina... morelly, in George's The Bride Wore Demon Dust, Bunny Raines thinks that she's married her dream guy in Rafe Dalvahni -- until a demon attacks her and Rafe tells her that he's really an ancient, demon-slayer warrior. That's not exactly the way that Bunny wants to start her honeymoon ...I like anthologies because you get to try several authors in one book. Plus, they're good to read when you're pressed for time. You spend a few minutes, finish a story, and then can put the book down to go do whatever you need to. However, most anthologies have their ups and downs, and this one did for me.Love's story had a lot of promise (demons run the fashion industry), but it seemed like it was all buildup. By the time Charlie figures out what's going on and what everyone (including Ava) is hiding from him, the story is over. There aren't really any bad guys on the page for very long, and none of them get what's coming to them. It felt more like a setup for a future book than a complete story. This story really dragged down the whole anthology for me.Fox's story is part of her Demon Slayer series. I thought it was an interesting idea -- demons feeding off the desires of all the gamblers in Vegas. Shiloh and Damien have lots of chemistry, even though they don't really trust each other at first. Plus, I liked the secondary characters, like Rufus, the hellhound. There was also a lot of action in this book, which I always enjoy.George's story is set in the same world as her book, Demon Hunting in Dixie, and it was entertaining in places, if a little slapsticky. I liked how Bunny's wedding rapidly deteriorated and how everyone in town revealed their secrets when they were under the demon's influence. However, I didn't like Rafe very much. His race of warriors are known for their emotionless control, and he doesn't think that he loves Bunny because that would be a weakness (but of course he does). But Rafe keeps insisting that he doesn't love her, and that got a little tiresome.Overall, though, if you're looking for a lighter paranormal read, you might check out this anthology.
review 2: Anthology containing three stories by Kathy Love, Angie Fox and Lexi George.Kathy Love’s 'HOT!' is the first story in what I refer to as the Devilishly series where a demon runs HOT! magazine and is trying to take over the world via the fashion industry.Angie Fox’s story 'What Slays in Vegas' is a novella that takes place between books 2 & 3 in the Demon Slayer series.Lexi George’s story 'The Bride Wore Demon Dust' is a novella between books 1 & 2 in her Demon Hunting series where hunky other-worldly demon slaying Dalvahni appear in Alabama to hunt djegrali (demons). Both Love’s and George’s stories were enjoyable reads in series I was already familiar with though I have to admit to liking George’s quirky story more. I will have to reserve judgment on Fox’s story because I have yet to read books 1 & 2 in the series, so I’ll have to revisit this anthology once I’ve done that. less
