review 1: Ha! I absolutely loved this novel. I could see a bit of myself in several of these characters. Now, that might mean I'm a bit "mad" but there's a little bit of madness in all of us. Right? I mean, only God knows where the road will lead us and who it leads us to, but there is most certainly a reason for everything! These witty, silly, insane, harsh, caring, intelligent, talented, interesting, intriguing, full of life, fearing life, giving, amazing, mean, strong, fun, awesome women caught my attention full on from the start and never let go:) ...the men were cool too;)Excellent!
review 2: I really liked the story and the characters here, but it lost a star for school-girlish writing which made it hard to get into.The story is set in Ireland and is about a young... more woman who goes missing one day, and her husband and estranged best friend, and their family and friends, who in trying to find her find life, love and themselves. There are some fairly dark parts about death, loss, mental illness, alcoholism and betrayal, but also some very funny bits. Songs by Jack Lukeman who is a real singer I'd never heard of, but like the sound of from what's on YouTube, are quoted throughout and it was not a surprise to learn from the acknowledgements that the author has known him a long time. less
