review 1: Let me just say that in general the story was good. My urge to know what is happening kept me going. However, not the best one I've read. First, the characters are badly written! They aren't developed at all. They don't grow or anything. This make is not only hard to connect with them but to understand the story itself. Second, three words: NO WRITING PATTERN! It's basically impossible to be able to see the story going on. The pattern of writing is simply horrible. It's super hard to understand and you get confused too often since there isn't a balance. The true rating is 2.5 since I enjoyed the mystery. But there is a lot of room for improvement.
review 2: This book was definitely... a unique idea. I liked the book, but I couldn't love it. I thought it would b... moree about training teens for some type of major event because of all the rules, athletics, etc. Instead it was about death. Towards the middle of the book, I still couldn't make any predictions about the outcome. Even when I was almost too the end, I had nothing pictured. I knew Cheron was some creepy undertaker, but I could never had guess that the academy was for people who died and needed to come to face the fact of it. I liked how this book was unpredictable, but I wish I had known that I was reading about Greek or Persian undertakers (I couldn't completely grasp the concept.) I must say that although some of the beginning and middle were boring, the end made it better. Some parts made absolutely no sense,(like the teacher's odd behavior, some of the students' odd behaviors) but in the end, I was happy that everything had an answer so that then I wasn't so confused anymore. less
