review 1: This was an interesting story about Picasso's life when he was torn between two women. Although it is a touching and engaging story, I couldn't help but wish that more of Picasso's artistic drive and works had been explored in the book. It felt as though his love life was mostly what absorbed him and his art was a hobby on the side. There were also a large number of characters introduced in the story, mostly Picasso's artistic friends, and they did not seem to be an integral part of the story. The novel is also interesting in the fine way the author describes the setting and time period in Paris and beyond. The book reads like butter and gives much insight into the artist community of Paris during that era. A must read for lovers of romantic historical fiction. less
