review 1: Good story. One sensual sex scene. Lots of family politics for the earl (our hero) to deal with. And the hero wasn't so obtuse that he was incapable of figuring out why she had refused his proposal - yeah, another one of those heroines who say, "I won't marry him because I love him." So common a cliche device in romance novels.I will give her points for taking a full day to think about his offer before she refused him. She even thought about taking the risk that she could win his heart one day or what would happen to their marriage if she could not. She's a smart woman for taking the time to think about his offer. She's a coward for not taking the risk.One last omplaint, could have used an epilogue to show me a bit of their happily ever after. The story seemed to end abrup... moretly after their declaration of love.
review 2: This is my first book by this author, and I don't think I will be looking up other books by her. This book was tedious, drawing out the "misunderstanding" to fill up pages. Then midway through the book, you learn something about the hero's past, when it hasn't even been hinted at that there IS a past, and then nobody mentions it again or explains it. The heroine came across as rude, not assertive, (if that was the intent), and just petty in her complaints...I did not feel the attraction between the main characters, either, and when they do finally come together, they are addressing each other as Lord this and Miss that?? and not after, but during the love scene (the only love scene, I think)...I realize society then had certain rules, but at that point in their relationship, it seems silly, even for a work of fiction. less
