If you are a loyal audience of US MasterChef and follow their Instagram, surely you will find the debate between netizens about the judges being unfair.
Is that right?

Personally, I always consider the judges is fair because they’re judging from the cooking results. Then, on the episode of the team challenge in Las Vegas, I felt strange. In that episode, Newton was eliminated because the element of his dish was incomplete. The same thing then happened to Yachecia in a pressure test making truffles. Her chocolate box was incomplete, but he survived the elimination. She should also be eliminated because the contents of the box is only 7, not 9 as instructed. The weirdness doesn’t just happen at that time, but also when the team tag elimination and team challenges in episode 13. In both episodes, Yachecia failed to provide dishes that meet the standards of MasterChef. I think, since the episode of the team challenge in Las Vegas, Yachecia’s performance has declined. Compared to Jeff who is known to have arrogant attitude, Yachecia is even worse.

Jeff is known not to listen to opinions of others, but if you noticed, in recent episodes, Jeff changed his attitude. He still control freak, but somehow he more calmer and he even more focused to channel his energy into cooking. And that, made him successfully present the most difficult egg ravioli and souffle. Everyone knows Jeff is weak in dessert. Jeff no longer shows his frustration when in the kitchen. He is now more focused and increasingly showing his skill
Unlike Jeff, Yachecia does not seem to learn from mistakes. Performances are getting worse, but he is lucky to still survive the elimination because of winning team challenges.
At this point, it’s natural for Jeff to survive. His performance is getting better, even now he is able to make dessert. But also, at this point, if Yachecia still survives despite her bad performance, MasterChef US will lose credibility.

So is the judges fair when judging?
The answer can be yes, can be not. If in the next episode, Yachecia’s cooking results are bad but still saved from elimination, then the public can judge how fair the judges are.
