review 1: Thank you to Kathy for introducing me to the remarkable Anthony Doerr. I just finished reading Memory Wall, one of his collections of stories. I can't write a review of this book as articulate as the one Kathy posted earlier, but I can say that this is the best, most powerful fiction I've read in years. The first and last stories in the collection, the title story and "Afterworld," are particularly moving.
review 2: After being enthralled reading Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See, I wanted to read more of his writing and I picked up Memory Wall. Not being a big fan of short stories, I was a little afraid that I would be disappointed. Not so. The writing is just a beautiful and the stories are full with well developed characters.
