review 1: I just loved this book. I thought it was beautifully written and magical. I didn't realize until I started reading it that it took place during WW2, and I was a bit hesitant at first, you know concentration camps, rape, all of the horrors of war. It wasn't horribly depressing and yet it wasn't unfairly light, it was the perfect combination. I really loved how it you could see why and how regular people could have joined the german army back then.
