review 1: The typical Shojo plot twist-one of the couple finds out the dark secret of the other. The innocent girl-she just wants to help Fuji-her guy. Of course, it is BEHIND his back. Gee, things get twisted, and she only makes things worse. I like how first kiss is explored here. One person in the relationship-total novice, the other extremely experienced. Shared first experiences are to be cherished in a relationship. What can even be a first for Fuji?I so could relate to Sakura's desire to express her feeling in person. I did this once--flew in to San Fran, to tell my long-distance boyfriend he had my heart, and express the L word to him. Well, JEF has so horrible, when I flew home several days later, I cried the moment my taxi pulled away from the curb. Oh, the lay-... moreover in Dallas--I cried to my best friend Pammie via phone. NO, I never told him the true reason why I flew out that holiday.So, yes the characters develop and the plot lines twist, turn and scrum. The drawing of Sakura has not grown on me yet. No one has addressed the mother in the room--Fuji's. He is working to support her, and pay bills-so why does he live alone as a teen? Also, the main story line involves the Japanese Host Club scene. I am going to have to google this. This series presents it as indentured servitude. I am enjoying the writing still, just not as crisp and witty as the first volume.
review 2: Enjoying this series. In this series Ryoko is dating Ryu. No one in school other then Ryoko knows that he is a part time Host. In this volume him being a Host is starting to get in the way of their relationship. Will they break up, will they continue to date? You have to read this to find out. Also in this volume we meet the President of the company that Shun works for is he a nice guy or a big jerk. less
