review 1: What I really like about Archer Mayor is his ability to get to the point quickly. The stories move right along. Pretty much each item you read ends up having some sort impact in the final pages. That being said, I really feel like there were a couple of items that were left open-ended here. It's not necessarily a bad thing kind of like a summer cliff hanger, leaving you wanting more. I love the descriptions of Vermont as well. It makes it that much easier to buy into a book when you can picture exactly where scenes are taking place.
review 2: All Archer Mayor's Joe Gunther series mystery books are page turners. As soon as I finished one I began another. This is the twenty-second book in the Joe Gunther series. I declare it as one of my favorites. Arch
... moreer Mayor stocked the series with an ensemble of characters who have larger or smaller parts in each of the books. It's likely one of the main reasons the books stay fresh. WARNING: If you haven't read any of these books don't read them out of order. The chronology of this series is one of its endearing qualities. If you've never read one and you like mysteries you're in for a treat, begin at the beginning with Open Season. less

As the Community reads book, it's not bad - pretty predictable but certainly enjoyable.
