review 1: This is the second of a fairly long series of Swedish mysteries but only it and the first book have been translated into English. I watched the Swedish TV movie (180 minutes) just before I read the book. While several of the book characters were switched from male to female in the movie, it was generally faithful to the book until the end. However, the conclusion in the movie was quite different and much more satisfactory than what happens in the book.
review 2: This is my first time reading any Scandinavian literature. I chose to request this book because I love police thrillers. I enjoyed the characters in this book. They are all portrayed as very real people. They all have their flaws. I love the way the writer goes into their personal lives. It helps the re... moreader to understand why they do their work the way they do. They each approach solving the case in a different way. A look into the serial killer also makes the reader somewhat understand why he does what he does. The weather mirrors the way the case progresses. The rain seems to get worse as they come closer to a conclusion. I will have to get the first book in the series now and read it. less
