review 1: A thought provoking premise that didn't quite deliver; I wanted more. As a book lover I found the ending rather dark and a bit sudden. I find such joy in reading and had an issue with the character's actions and the motives behind them. It all just seemed a bit extreme. I'm giving it three stars because the artwork was nice and I liked the use of different fonts in the text. Otherwise, it was kind of a letdown.
review 2: I don't know how to rate this book. It is a beautiful concept -- a lovely visualization of an idea I've long cherished, that of the importance of the books we've read, especially as children, in creating who we are. It tugged at my tear ducts with the same sort of painful snap that Niffenegger produced with TTW. I like the idea of The Library.
... moreBut I was distracted by the fact that the bookmobile librarian was clearly Alton Brown, and I hated the choice the protagonist made and how she allowed yearning for the unattainable ruin the good things she had in her life. So... Yeah. Five stars for some aspects, and one star for others, and I'll average them together and go for three, I guess. less
