review 1: Warning!!! Vampires!!!!The above isn't a spoiler, although it almost felt like it. The synopsis I read on this book did not say it was about Vampires, and as soon as that fact was revealed my enthusiasm with the story just went downhill. This is personal preference of mine, but I am SICK of the whole vampire thing. Of course, if I had known ahead of time, I would not have chosen the book. The work vampire should have appeared somewhere in the synopsis, for crying out loud. As to the story itself, I was disappointed. No back story on either character except for the very barest of items, and the only two women in the story are presented villains (one a greedy, shrewish prostitute, and the other a femme fatal Vampire Queen). Yawn. I like the rest of March's stuff, so I will c... morehalk this one up to trying something different and not having it work out. At least, let's hope we don't get more. =(
review 2: From Afar is a delightful short story. Emphasis on the short. My biggest complaint is that this story doesn't have more to it. It had all the elements to create an amazing novel but instead settled for being a short story. Because of this there are some questions left unanswered and others that are glossed over in explanation. Despite this though, From Afar is still an engrossing novel with endearing characters and steamy scenes. Raphael is a well-rounded character who I felt very empathetic for. The chemistry between Raphael and Aleric is strong and quite evident and for how short the story was, there was a wealth of side characters that I found interest in. I would have loved to have seen or see more of Grant and Roman. I hope that Ms. March will write a sequel (or spin-off in Grant and Roman's case) for this story. It is worth a read. less

A very interesting premise, but the ending was abrupt and left more than a few questions unanswered.

Vampires, pretty boys in pretty clothes. I enjoyed it, will seek out other titles by this author.
