review 1: First off, I don't like this cover. So, I might as well be hunting for the new cover of this novel. As much as I hate this cover, the thing is I was surprised to actually love the story. I got so interested with the concept of reincarnation here. Plus, I love how the main character, Kailey thinks. She's not the average whiny teenager immortal. There were times though that I wish she could form a solid decision for herself but yeah I get it that there is something that has been guiding her. Anyway, I didn't expect the plot twist or rather the cliffie at the end of the novel. I was expecting thay Cyrus will be somehow still alive and he has to be or else there wouldn't be a next book right? I'm curious to see how the story unfolda for Kailey and of course ... moreNoah.
review 2: WARNING: Slight SpoilersStarting out, the novel is fast paced. It didn't linger on the people Sera knew for very long. We only really get faint impressions about them before Sera leaves them. I guess this is fine considering that the readers don't really need to care about those characters all the much, at least in this book, but I still would have liked to know a little more about them.Another thing I would have like to read more about was Sera's transformation into an Incarnate, or at the very least, her dealing with her life after she first become one. While it's not strictly necessary to the story, it still would have been nice to read about. Personally, I would have loved for the book to be longer so it could focus on Sera's past, with her dealing with initially becoming an Incarnate and her relationship with Cyrus. All we really get in the beginning is that they were once attracted to each other, and then things happen over the course of 600 years that causes Sera to no longer want to be with him because he turned into an extremely manipulative person.I am able to deal with this lack of information, but I still wish it had been fleshed out a little more than it was.Normally, I'm not a big fan of the girl instantly falling in love the second she lays eyes on the love interest. I feel that the author did well with this part of the story. Even though Sera quickly develops a crush on Noah, it's not obsessive and he isn't the main focus of her thoughts 24/7. The fact that the relationship between Noah and Sera started rather quickly, I'm kind of fine with it considering that Noah doesn't know anything about Sera, seeing her as Kailey, a girl he knew his entire life.Overall I really enjoyed the book. Nothing really seemed awkward or wrong with it to me and I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. less
