review 1: The third book of this series is definitely the best!Who but Barbara Cameron would have thought to do the unexpected. I for one would never have expected the third book to deal with Jenny and Matthew Bontrager having marital problems!Sure, it’s expected that Jenny, who has not been able to conceive a child, would feel the hurt as the families around her continue to increase. Even Hannah, her loving sister-in-law, is expecting a baby soon. But when Jenny feels betrayed by Matthew, she starts keeping her distance. Will they be able to work out their problems?Barbara does a superb job dealing with the heartache of betrayal in this third book. She made the characters real to me, so much so that I chatted with my daughter about how they might work things out and how sad it made... more me when she couldn’t conceive. I’d love to think there are families in Lancaster County that are similar to the ones Barbara created in her stories.Read them all, beginning with the A Time to Love, then A Time to Heal and finally A Time for Peace. Don’t miss out on this wonderful series.
review 2: This is the third book in the Quilts of Lancaster County Series, and I'm going to miss these sweet friends.I found the characters in this book to be strong but yet vulnerable too. It's been such a pleasure reading the series 'Quilts of Lancaster County'. I've watched Jenny grow from a world-weary international journalist to a loving wife and mother. Ms. Cameron specializes in weaving Amish culture with very real modern concerns, and `A Time for Peace' is no exception.Barbara keeps you involved in this book from beginning to end. She is to be commended on her fine writing skills and her talent to totally involve you in the story. It is a real page turner!! I highly recommend this book to all!! The characters in this series are beautiful and real. Barbara does a wonderful job portraying a realistic view of the Amish and show that they also struggle with faith like every other believer out there and that the Amish also deal with the same struggles everyone else does. She also shows the loving, family dynamic of caring for one another especially the elderly. Her descriptions of Lancaster County made me feel like I was there with the characters, watching all unfold. I truly enjoyed this book as much as the first two in this series. less
