review 1: Mary Katherine by the title of the book has a restless heart. Reading her story you can see why she is troubled in making a decision which will be for life.... only 22yrs old but to be baptized in the Amish church n deciding to marry are a "life sentence" kind of to speak. No divorce or shunning if she leaves the church.... these are big commitments. Her parents especially her father has not been a good role model n its not only his family he has affected... Two men coming to the decision to pursue Mary Katherine as they seek a wife n companion but they are farmers. Characters from the previous series are here as well as 2 cousins who get their stories told.The writer has written the story so you get a big picture of the Amish life, and how some relationships are hard to u... morenderstand because they thought this is how "one" behaves in showing Jesus to others. Compromise or keeping the peace can be done in a manner that squashes living to be burdensome. Exploring "outside" was a no no and many had lost their children to outside of Amish influence....and Mary Katherine needs to make a decision but the bishop was putting pressure on.
review 2: "Her Restless Heart" by Barbara Cameron gets 5 stars from me. I read this book because it was the book discussion for my online book discussion on Facebook. I haven't had read any books by her before (or if I did I didn't remember) but now I can say I am a fan.Mary Katherine didn't date because she wasn't sure she was going to stay Amish or join the English world. MaryKatherine doesn't want to take a chance on love because of her father who is not a very nice man and never has a kind word. She makes designs and works in her grandma's shop, Stiches in Time, along with her two cousins. But as the story continues Mary Katherine cannot fight her growing attraction to Jacob. Jacob is in love with Mary Katherine but thinks she is falling for Daniel. This story has moments that makes her sad and moments that makes you laugh. I loved that the cousins are just like cousins in real life and the grandmother is just like my grandmother was. I can't wait to read the other 2 books in this story and other series by this author less
