review 1: I can easily say that Barbara Cameron is one of my favorite writers of Amish fiction. She has an uncanny way of creating characters that you wouldn't mind being friends with, reading her stories are always like a breath of fresh air for me."Heart in Hand" is the story of Gideon and Anna. Anna buried her dreams of having a family when she had to bury her beloved husband Samuel. Working at Stitches in Time with her family has helped, and she feels blessed to have the love of her family along with her community but some days it's still hard. Gideon Beiler is a single father, raising his daughter Sarah Rose. He tries his best to be a mother and father to the little girl, that's why he brings her into the shop hoping that they can find a hobby to do together. They choose knitt... moreing, while in the store though Sarah Rose does something that Anna has to bring to Gideon's attention. Soon she is spending time with father and daughter, and while she finds Gideon attractive and truly enjoys Sarah Rose she isn't sure that her heart is ready for a second chance at love."Heart in Hand" is the third book in the Stitches in Time series, and I felt like I was visiting with old friends, catching up with their lives. I loved getting Anna's story, and really hoped that she might get a happily ever after.I also enjoyed the relationship between Gideon and his daughter. He was very hands on. While this is the third book in the series it can easily be read as a stand alone work, because the author provides enough background information so that the reader won't feel lost. Although it's such a great series I recommend reading all three books. If your like me and often choose what you read based on an eye catching corer, well your going to be drawn in by the beautiful cover on "Heart In Hand," but your going to find a fast moving, wonderful story inside the pages that far outshines the cover. I enjoyed the modern feel of the story, and the secondary story of Nick planning to become Amish really kept the plot moving along. Each time I read one of the books in this series it has me itching to pull out my crochet hooks and create something! Amish fiction fans are going to love this story, but anyone looking for a great read that has inspirational undertones that deals with loss, grieving and ultimately opening the heart for what God has in store for us will find this a wonderful read.
review 2: I have to admit that I haven't read the first two books in this series. They are still on my wish list but when I received the opportunity to read and review this book, I couldn't resist. Not reading the previous books in no way hindered my enjoyment of "Heart in Hand".I loved that so much of the story takes place in a craft store! All the yarn! All the fabric! Such yummy goodness! The love story between Anna and Gideon (and his daughter-Sarah Rose) was so sweet with just the right amount of conflict and suspense to make it great! less
