review 1: I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it. The story is deep yet easy to read and the characters are real. Reverend Elsa Montgomery experiences a tragedy and she has a crisis of faith. She leaves her congregation and returns to her hometown. At the same time, her sister Tamsin learns that her husband is a criminal. Tamsin moves in with Elsa and the sisters try to somehow make sense of the trials that they are living. While some of the story involves religion, it is handled well and it adds to the depth of the story. Elsa reunites with her longtime friend, Father Jack. Together they form a community garden and we meet many of the local residents who are struggling. We meet Deacon, a man with a record and we learn about the power of friendship and community. There... more are many themes and they all add to the detail and depth of this book.
review 2: I really like the way this author tells a story: emotional, but not sappy. At least not so sappy that I can't finish it. This particular book encompasses a lot of familiar themes--love, loss, growing up, and also a lot of spirituality. There's something almost magical about parts of it. Chick lit, for sure, but with more depth. Anyway, it was a very good read and I look forward to reading more of Barbara O'Neal! less

Loved the setting of Pueblo, CO, and the little bit of over-the-top romance. Good book.
