review 1: OMG! MY heart was racing at the end. I thought I knew what was going to happen but I didn't. I was so totally engrossed in this book that I refused to speak to anyone until I got to the end. Great series by Barry Lyga. I would recommend the Jasper Dent series to anyone who wants to stay up late reading and wake up really tired the next day. But happy you did because this book is so good as well as the other two that precede it. Please give us more!
review 2: 3.5/5 stars. So I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with this as the final book in this series, I mean it was quick to fly through and almost all loose ends were tied up nicely. I would've liked a bit more after the climax and the epilogue and it just kinda felt a bit rushed there. Given that this series isn't rea
... morelly about relationships and bonds between characters but rather mystery and psychological complexity and crime, I shouldn't have expected much after that stuff was through though regardless I would've liked it. I thought the way everything fit together was very interesting but as it's always been with this series, the bonds between characters and most of the side characters just fell flat for me. What this series does well is mystery and ick and thrill factor and it always delivers but when it comes to character they're flat, that is with the exception of jazz and all the killers but normal people are just kinda eh for me, as billy may say "they're not real" for me they're just kinda moving plot along and just there. The writing kinda gets to me sometimes in some of the more normal scenes where there are just unnecessary detail and things that don't need to be brought up so much like "okay, I get it! They're teenagers and they all want to have sex, now let's move on!" And after all of jazz'a character development I felt a but let down by his reaction to his revelations about his parents and the crows but in particular to his mother and it just felt a bit stopped out and short and that again is a result to my biggest problem with this book which was the abruptness of the ending and the way that after everything there's only a few pages of resolution for the characters and I would've liked to have seen jazz dealing with everything that he has been though because that's one of the things I like most about this series which is Jasper's mental state and the way he prodded things so I was let down to not see all that at the end. Overall it was a satisfying end for the series. less
