review 1: I thought this book was really good in showing the extent to which friends will go in order to help another friend. This book shows a variety of animals pretty much having a cookout and enjoying themselves amongst each other, something a lot of people seem to have a problem being able to do. The artwork and detail from the book is really good since it depicts certain obstacles friends faced to get back their friend. Really funny book! I like the bear with the log in his hand getting ready to settle the score until the chicken speaks up for .... well, I can't tell ya. Children and adults will enjoy this book from start to finish. I thought I saw the rabbit eating a hotdog.
review 2: I like the pictures without words. However, in the beginning it seems as
... moreif the fox is running away with the chicken to eat it. But after, the chicken and fox seem like lovers. But at the same time, they are all friends and it does not seem to make sense why the bear, rooster, and rabbit are chasing the chicken back if the chicken is not struggling. Why would the fox keep running? According to Nodelman, the oppositions established should intersect and interact but not blend. However, the oppositions are not clear from the beginning and them seems to shift throughout. I'm not sure what the purpose of this book is. less
