review 1: I got this free from Amazon.What a great book that has little advertising. I feel lucky to have found this book searching through Amazon. Burgess, created a great world and her writing was easy to read and follow. I have no markings and notes with this book. This is good an bad. Good because I didn't find things wrong but bad because this doesn't help my memory. It has been awhile since I have read the book, but I remember how much I enjoyed the story. I also remember how much I loved Burgess's writing. She explains the story and her characters so well that I didn't have questions. Burgess was able to answer everything and I think she did a great job. I found the book very creative and worth reading again. I hope this book eventually gets more recognition. It de... moreserves it. This is the first book in a series. No language that I can remember.
review 2: This was a take it or leave it book. I didn't have a strong connection with any of the characters. I was mildly interested in Quin's story and I wanted them to be soul mates. I felt like the ending ruined it for me. After going through the switching of POVs and flashbacks the ending felt too abrupt. I know it is an ending and it has another book so you want to leave it open but it felt like there should have been a couple extra chapters just to get you on steady ground with the real main characters again. Plus introducing a mysterious new villain when there was a villain already could have waited until the next book. That way you could really appreciate the wrench the second mystery villain would throw into the mix. I have no intention of reading more of this series. less
