review 1: Ugh, I has such I hopes for this book. I love time travel, and I can tolerate romance, but this was so degrading to females. It reminded me of Deborah Harkness's Discovery of Witches, which was equally bad. I didn't finish A Discovery of Witches, but I did finish this book, if for no other reason than to figure out the mechanism of the time travel, which proved to be really unimaginative. Really. It was so completely drippy, and there was no real reason for the two main characters to love each other. They just did, against all odds! Kate makes incredibly bad business and personal life decisions, and the melodrama piles on. The dialogue was something out of a Lifetime movie, and if Julian said "rotter" or "minx" once more, I was going to launch the book across the room. Th... moreere was no time spent at all on the actual method of the time travel, which in my opinion is the ENTIRE KEY TO THE STORY. If you want to waste an afternoon, don't care about being an independent female, and don't care if a book about time travel gets around to how the characters actually TRAVELED IN TIME, give it a go.
review 2: This book was kind of terrible.I mean, it was entertaining for the first half or so. But it devolved into so much unnecessary drama at times. Some of the arguments just went around in circles. And the dialogue was so ridiculously overblown and schmoopy at times I ended up skimming a lot of it.And really, you're going to write a relationship that lusty and not deliver on the sex scenes? Bah.To be honest, I was kind of hoping this would be more about reincarnation rather than time travel, but I did enjoy the cyclical nature of the time travel. Even if I'm a little baffled the characters (Kate in particular) didn't pick up on that aspect of it sooner.Probably not worth your time unless you really like soppy romance that's heavy on the profanity but not very steamy. less

I truly was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I was given it as a beach book by my grandmother who couldn't get into while we were on vacation. I found myself devoting the book in a entire day sitting on the beach. I liked the characters although the romance seemed to move way too fast but it made some sense as to why towards the end of the book. Although for a while Julian's over protection of Kate was very annoying. The historical fiction aspect of this book was the best part for me! I love history and it so interesting and intriguing. I would defiantly recommend this book.

I had high expectations for this book based on the description but, wow, was I disappointed. it was terrible. Kate was so passive-aggressive I do not understand how anyone would fall in love with herJulian was darling this, beloved that... the author was attempting to make him into the most romantic hero and just went completely overboard the time travel thing? the explanation just did not work for me.overall, a bad read.
