review 1: I have to admit that I really enjoyed this particular 1NS story. I could really relate to Brenna's denial that anyone could really love her with the scars she has on her face and chest after the accident. I love the playful friendship between her and her best friend, Drew. He thinks she's beautiful even with the scars, and although she has stronger feelings for him than just friendship, she doesn't think she's good enough for him anymore. Kostas has been in love with Brenna for a long time, seeing her for the first time walking down a runway. He knows of her accident and that she is having a hard time moving passed it. So with the help of Madame Eve, he puts into motion a way of helping her work through her phantom pains that she's been experiencing since the accident.The ... moretwist at the end was nice, though from time to time as I was reading, I thought I knew what was going to happen then I'd change my mind. I look forward to reading more of Becca Dale's work.
review 2: When I was in middle school, I tried out for a solo in the choir and as I was auditioning the conductor waved at me and said "more". I didn't get the solo and when the conductor was addressing everyone and awarding the solo, she said that few people were able to give enough to justify the part and I realized that the problem with my audition was that I was singing too meekly, literally not giving enough to the part.This is what enters my mind when I review this book. All the parts are there and the story is set up well but in the end it falls short because it's not dynamic enough. less
