review 1: (Book was gifted by author for review)The Blood Origin is the book in the series that I have been waiting to read with much anticipation, as it reveals as the title suggest the "origin" of where it all started. The history of Lowan is a very unexpected and surprising twist to this enchanting series. I do not want to comment to much on the storyline as I do not want to spoilt it for people that have not read the book as of yet. But I will say that the concept of the origin is very original and one that I did not see coming.Lowan grew up on a planet where almost everyone and everything lived together in harmony but, he did not understand it deeply as he had not experienced harmony growing up. When he did experience it for the first time, his heart was broken by the female th... moreat he had been in harmony with, this caused him to hate the harmony. In trying to destroy what he does not understand he pays the ultimate price.Besides the origin of The Blood Vivicanti being revealed, we also continue with Mary. After drinking the blood of Nell, a Sleeper Devil, because of her greed and desire to have as much blood as possible, Mary spirals near to death. She learns through the blood memories exactly what Lowan is and what his warped mind has done to Nell. For me personally this instalment of the series was darker than the previous books, it left me with a heavy feeling of foreboding for everyone. One thought that kept going through my mind whilst reading it was, "a corrupt mind, does not know it is corrupt, if the heart is broken". I am looking forward to reading Book 5 to see what happens next.
review 2: My favorite one so far! Lowen and the Red Man are intriguing characters and Becket's brilliant storytelling makes it fun to learn more about them. I really hope they keep coming into the story more with Mary Paige and Theo.The other thing I loved about part 4 is that you can see growth in Mary Paige. She's living, breathing, healing, changing, coming out of an arrested state. PS love the new book covers!!! less
