review 1: I thought this book was brilliant. It had everything I look for in a book, namely - tight plot, fascinating characters in a well-drawn cast, a sense of realism without the hint of soap opera and (above all) subtle, well-researched writing. It had many laugh-out-loud moments and managed to be moving at the same time. The plot was original and compelling. Reading became essential until completion. It was highly entertaining stuff. The end did not disappoint. Set in the UK, I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes excellent writing coupled with one or two surprises. Quite honestly, it blew me away. Fantastic work by Belinda Bauer.
review 2: When is a Belinda Bauer book not a good read? NEVER! Suspenseful, at times it feels as if a hundred spiders are crawl... moreing up my leg, she brings new meaning to the word frightening. This particular book incorporates a charming character, Patrick, who has Aspergers. She infuses his character with these traits and I found myself even rooting for him when he does the most despicable act one human being can do to another. I was held captive by the coma induced patient, felt sympathy for the drunk mother and even found myself begging for someone to please figure out what all that finger tapping is about. Ah sure, you want me to tell you the story and wonder what the heck I've written here. Has tara gone mad? No, just another happy read of a Belinda Bauer book. If you haven't picked her up, please do. Rubbernecker was fabulous. Full of plot twists, unusual characters and many heartwarming moments as well. less
