review 1: I love this book and I love Amy and Liam`s characters. I'm absolutely gutted there will be no more. This was an easy free flowing read that kept me hooked. I like the easy going feel to the characters, it's a refreshing change to the the normal intense vampire books. I think the aids disease brings an interesting spin to the story and I like the fact that Amy escapes the disease. I enjoyed reading about the shields some more and being introduced to the elders and more vampires.I love Bella Forrest`s writing style, the way she captivates you with all her books. I don't like to go into book details so all I can say is, if you have read Bella`s other books then read this because it's just as good. For those of you who have not read her books then give her books a go. She intro... moreduced me to her books this year and I love them all and she never fails to disappoint her readers.Another great book Bella thanks for sharing them with everyone.
review 2: For a book to tackle HIV or AIDS in any form is a brave book, this book and the first book (also titled Beautiful Monster) does that to a degree, but, also includes vampires, witches, shields (a person that can negate the powers of he supernatural), ghosts and werewolves.I fell in love with this duo of books, most people will probably know this author from her Shade of Vampire books, I personally have not read one yet, they are on my very, and I mean very, long wish list!! Anyway, the story, it is about Amy a young girl who having got into the performing arts school run by Liam, who she discovered in book 1 was a vampire and is now her boyfriend, is now in her second year of school and planning the demise of Selene, Liam's sire.Word is getting around in the underworld and the school is visited by others that Selene has sired wanting to kill her in order to return to human. With them and their secret weapon, Sarah, Amy's best friend, they are all set for their plan. Things are never going to be that simple though and with the relationship between Liam and Amy hitting a rocky patch and Amy's HIV causing worry there are a lot of extra twists and turns to the story. The story is a great conclusion to the story although I have to admit to wishing that we could have more of their story. Perhaps even some more of Sarah's story?! It is well written and suitable for all who love this genre, YA and adults alike, watching the characters develop over the course of the two books, especially Amy, was a delight and I feel like I have now got to say goodbye to a friend.I guess i'll have to turn to Ms Forrest's other books now!! less
