review 1: You can tell that Ben Brooks wrote this book with some obvious experience behind him making it real, and that's what I love about it. However, throughout the whole book, there's always a slight nagging feeling of despair at the back of your mind, because you know people in real life like the characters in the book. I was told to read it because it was 'funny' but it's not, it's honest. Some of the things in Grow Up are just too relatable and serious to be found as humerous, but still a decent coming-of-age book.
review 2: There's a lot of humour in here, combined with the pains of adolescence that everyone goes through. The writing is punchy and pacy, painting a hectic and vivid picture of modern day teenage concerns and tribulations. It's not particularly plot
... moredriven, and feels a little listless at times. There are real gems of moments and dialogue, but I was left a little cold by the book. I'd read more by the author, but I'm not sure this one will draw me back for a re-read. less

We've all been young and done stupid things, right? Very amusing, but not amazing.
