review 1: When the sweet dog, Kimble, who is first called Goldie, is found on Mandy`s porch, Mandy knows that she needs to rescue this sweet dog. At about eighteen months old, she is going to have her first litter of puppies, and Mandy can`t believe that someone would abandon this mother-to-be! And when Dr. Emily gives a further exam to Kimble, she`s expected to have the pups about two days later! When the puppies are born, Kimble`s not sure what to do. Mandy, James, and Mandy`s mom have to make sure that the right thing gets done. One puppy dies, and then there`s Felix. It takes them a little while for them to get him ready, but it happens. But Felix is still too weak, and dies. Pippa and Jake make it, and then they find Kimble`s real owner, Vera Morley. The SPCA says it`s OK to le... moret Vera have Kimble back, and Kimble has a home!
review 2: I had high expectations for this book.. a pregnant golden retriever left on someone's doorstep? Think of all of the fun/emotional scenarios that could ensue! Instead, this book is completely flat and tedious. The protagonist lacks depth and personality, and the ending is rushed and completely unbelievable. This book lacks the charm and grace I had hoped from a story involving a golden retriever. Sadly disappointed. less
