review 1: Absolutely phenomenal! I have been trying to think of anything to say about this book that summarises how much I loved it. I put off reading it by pre-judging what it would be like, and as I have never experienced university, let alone Cambridge university, I thought the themes and concepts would be too intellectual for my limited attention span when it comes to complex matters, but it came across brilliantly and the story was told in an amazing way. One of the best books I've read all year!
review 2: Great read. I loved the beginning and the Cambridge setting, the student life, the music etc. The characters are well thought of, I particularly liked Oscar and the grumpy Paulsen. his friend Herbert is also quite good. jones is the mystery: why does she even exi
... morest. But above all Eden is disturbing - we re always wondering whether he is is indeed mentally ill or just crazy. I enjoyed the power of music. I thought the second part could be condensed a bit more. the end is quite dramatic but it is not the part of the book we remember. Chosen by Lisa of the book club as she vaguely knows the author. less
