review 1: We were on at the bookstore at Vineyard Have and saw this book..When we got home we ordered through the Leominster Public Library. I honestly did not know what to expect, He is an author from France....the book has just been translated. This guy can write...In the same league as Scott Thurow....Tess Gerritsen ....Kathy Reich...and newly found Val McDermid.....How stunning....gripping is this book? Enough that the w/e newspspers became neglected....forgot to eat......drinking coffee ....it is such a yarn that honestly you find yourself leaving a light on....and getting jumpy....it's crazy....nerve-wracking....gut wrenching tour-de-force that does leave you exhausted and overwhelmed......,yes the characters are believable....the scenes stupefying .....at times it's stuf... moref that you read in the papers......I had just read a thriller so I felt that I was gonna be jaded when it came time to read this book.....boy was I in for a surprise. It's a white knuckle read...if its cold outside ( and it is) the feeling is haunting......you go shopping...you ask yourself is somebody like you read here?.......you become spooked....the worse thing is the story becomes like a runaway vehicle going uphill? then straight down!!.....you lose breath !.....Read it.....and be warned.....the author is good....RJH
review 2: Really, really enjoyed this book. The mystery was done so well, with many twists and turns. Definitely kept you guessing. The characters were also done really well. Very on point with this. The only character who wasn't flushed out enough was Diane, the Psychologist. I think I would have liked to find out a little bit more about her and her new position in the Institute. I really liked the locale of being in the frigid weather. This added more depth to the story and the police investigation. There were only a few times that the translation to English was a little weird, but definitely didn't take away from the story at all. There are quite a bit of characters in this book that took awhile to get organized in your head, but then everything just falls into place. I will definitely read this author again. less

Enjoyed. Multiple stories going on at once. All coming together in the end.
