review 1: First, I bought this book because it was in the $5 bin at Barnes & Nobles, that should have told me something. I, however, picked it up because as they say "never judge a book by its cover," and me being the girl that I am like gossip. The novel is not interesting and does not have any type of suspensful nature. It talks about family, love and the goes through the life of the main character, which is pretty boring. If I was about 80 years older, there may be a chance I could enjoy this novel. But until then, it is bad.
review 2: I liked this and the narrator Lovie who is both an inside the society she observe and outsider due to her financial situation and status as the other woman. As the years progress her friends Avis, society and rich and Dinah, social cli... morember lives become entwined as their children fall in love and marry. A marriage that ends tragically. I did feel the pace was off in that it was the 70's and then suddenly 9/11 happens, it was disorientating. in saying that it was a really good read. less
