review 1: This was a freebie on amazon and I'm amazed at anyone for giving something this good away. I've paid for lots of poorer quality books than this.It was a sweet, slow build romance between a cynical but very sexy rockstar and a innocent catholic school teacher. She'd led a sheltered life because of a devastating assault she suffered as a child. This was sensitively handled I thought.I've read a few by Beth Kerry now and she writes sexy romance beautifully. Very highly recommended - I only wish it had been a full length story rather than a novella.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book.Christian Lasher is a rock star, with the reputation that tends to go along with the job. Megan teaches art at a Catholic school in Christian's home neighborhood. When the two meet... more, sparks fly--but Megan's past has a dark spot. While the issues from her childhood don't effect her on a day-to-day basis (she doesn't even remember the trauma she endured, because she was too young) her family has done everything in their power to protect her, as they see it. Which, unfortunately, translates to cloistering her, tamping down her sensuality, and pushing away any attempt she makes to break out of her shell and live a little. Christian comes in, and shows her there's another way to live.What I liked most about this book was how Christian deals with Megan's family, and with the trauma Megan endured. He's understanding, and caring, but he rightly thinks the way Megan's family treats her like a piece of glass is BS. He calls them on it, calls Megan on her unearned shamed, and helps her to blossom into a woman, not a child arrested in a woman's body. I thought that element was beautiful.Both characters were smart, too, which I appreciated. If you like contemporary romance, rock stars and artists, I'd recommend this book. less
