review 1: Haruhi has caught the eye of more than three Host Club members, but unknowingly, she has had a love growing inside of her since the beginning for a certain Host. When her love for him brings her to the brink of illness, Mei tries to help her realize her true feelings, but it takes Haruhi a little while before she can go into the denial phase... But before she can fully accept, or even process, what she feels, another one of the Hosts asks her to be his girlfriend...!So Haruhi is finally beginning to act like she should have around volume two. LOL. That's one of the many, many things that really sets Ouran apart from other anime and manga. It is so slow-paced on some things, and jumps ahead on others, but instead of that odd pace causing irritation, it actually gives Ouran ... moremore of a unique and likable charm. All of the characters are charismatic, and now that they have all matured and grown, they are even more so. They're blossoming, and I love being part of the audience that is allowed to see such a beautiful process.Another thing, I left off on this series back in April, I think, because my library literally took THAT long to get to me volume 13 (as an interlibrary loan). *Sigh*. At the moment, I have volumes 13 (of course) 14, and 16, 17, and 18 in my possession. I'm still waiting for volume 15!! I just really hope I won't have to wait three months again. >BT But I guess volume 12 was a good stopping point if there had to be one, because at the start of volume 13 it seems the series has taken a totally different turn from all of the previous chapters. It's even changed its atmosphere, but I guess that just shows how much people can change too. That's pretty sad, because it's true, and they all had a beautiful thing going for them. Although, it is still beautiful, even though it is twisted and tangled now. I don't know about all of the characters, but someone will unravel the vines and pull along someone with them through the carnage (although carnage is more than a bit extreme, especially at this point). Also, is it just me, or does it seem that when Haruhi becomes flustered around Tamaki, he becomes *even more* flustered than he would have been in the first place? Is that because it is a natural reaction to become flustered when another person is, or when another person you are close to is, or does he somehow recognize her suppressed emotions? But it seems Tamaki also has a block. It seems to me that he thinks if he falls in love, the family will fall apart in turn. That is just so sad... Additionally, Hikaru has confessed his love for Haruhi to Tamaki, confusing Tamaki all the more, and hurting the both of them when he told Tamaki to stay away. It's very sweet yet sad how much Hikaru loves both Tamaki and Haruhi, and honestly, I can't tell which he loves more right now, but he proves that he doesn't know either. And furthermore, Hikaru's love has grown to the point that it has spilled over, and while he supports Tamaki, he has decided he will not give up on Haruhi, and he asks her out. But what will she say? Hmm? I'm curious to know. But I can see how nearly every member of the host club would fall for her. Not only is she cute, but she has a good soul and heart, and she says sweet things that will, sometimes intentionally but mostly without her even knowing you're sad, it will cheer you up and nearly bring you to tears. I also like this new Haruhi a lot more. She's so willing to learn, hehe. The perfect time for me to read this too. Because when I was reading volume 12 and previous, I was still transitioning from apathetic to adventurous, but now I am spontaneous as I wish to be! I had decided a while back that I want to try many, many things. I don't need to settle on one single thing exactly, because if I believe in myself, that I can do it, I will achieve what ever I may desire, but to properly and healthily do that, I must experience *everything* along the way. Hehe. Haruhi, maybe we're more alike than I had ever thought. Especially the dense part of your personality... *Sigh*... I don't get the jokes a lot of the time, because I'm just about as dense as Haru-chan...
review 2: Haruhi is one of my favorite manga characters of all time. She is funny and strong even against a bushel of guys (strange kinds of guys by the way, but they are lovable too!) Even though all of the guys fit in their own individual stereotype that is exactly what makes the series as a whole so funny and enjoyable. The relationship between Haruhi and Tamaki is epic and I can tell you for a fact that I will be re-reading this series many times in the future!I would really recommend watching the anime too! less
